The earliest occurrence of Mother’s Day was way back in the era of ancient Greek and Romans. The roots can also be linked to the UK where Mothering Sunday was on the fourth Sunday in Lent when the religious would visit their “mother” church. Mother’s Day as we know it, however, is a recent phenomenon. American social activist Anna Jarvis is considered the founder after honouring her own mothers desire to have a day to pay tribute to them.
